Cervical Screening and Smear Tests

Cervical screening (a smear test) checks the health of your cervix, which is the opening to your womb from your vagina. The test is done by our Practice nurses in the surgery.

It's not a test for cancer, it's a test to help prevent cancer.

It's one of the best ways to protect yourself from cervical cancer.

We encourage women to have their screening test regularly. It's your choice if you want to come for cervical screening but it is one of the best ways to protect you from cervical cancer.

Women age 25 - 49 are invited to attend every 3 years.

Women age 50 - 64 are invited to attend every 5 years.
